W: Tom, how was your job interview yesterday?
M: Well, the interviewers asked about my experience and some technical questions about our major. I think I explained everything clearly.
Text 2
M: Has the new water sports center opened yet?
W: Yes. It has two indoor pools for diving and swimming and offers sailing lessons on the lake.
M: So you offer sailing lessons? That’s cool. I’ll try sailing this year.
Text 3
M: I’m tired this morning. I didn’t sleep well.
W: neither did I, let’s ask dad to turn down the heating in our room.
M: Listen, he’s coming back. I can hear the car.
Text 4
M: The concert tickets are selling fast. We might not get good seats if we wait. They usually don’t get cheaper closer to the date.
W: HM, that makes sense. We shouldn’t wait any longer.
Text 5
M:We were so lucky to get these last minute tickets. Look, the scenery outside is so beautiful. I love it.
W: Yeah, but a flight home would be much faster than a train ride.
M: It could be worse. Last time we had to catch a bus home due to our flight cancellation. It took us nine hours.
Text 6
M: Sharon you look a bit upset. What’s up?
W: Johnson, my dad has a new job and we are moving abroad. In the beginning, I was really excited about the idea of a nice climate and a lovely new house. But I think I’ll miss my friends here.
M: Gosh, lucky you. See it as a chance to see the world. Sure, you’ll miss your friends, but we can keep in touch.
W: Thanks, I’m feeling better now.
Text 7
M: Hi Lucy, do you have a moment to talk about the project discussion this Friday? We had planned to meet at 10but that time doesn’t really work for me now.
W: Oh, I see. We could move it to later in the morning or earlier. What would be better for you?
M:Would 8:30 be possible? That would help a lot. I have a flight to catch at noon.
W: No problem. I’ll update the time on the team calendar so everyone will see the change.
M: Great. Thanks a lot Lucy.
Text 8
M: Hello, welcome to Shake It Off fitness. How can I help you?
W: Hi, I saw on the sign you have a cheap membership. Is that right?
M: Yes, we’ll match any better price and there are no sign up or cancellation fees.
W: That’s good to know, what are your hours of operation?
M: We open at 5 am and close at midnight.
W: I see. Do you have trainers?
M: Sure, we do. As we say on our brochure, the trainers can show you which exercises you can do.
W: Okay, thank you.
Text 9
M: Guess what, Claire? I’ have just been chosen for the school swimming team. I’m so excited.
W: That’s great. Swimming is good for your health, but Dad may worry it will affect your studies.
M: I’ve thought about that. Training is only a few afternoons a week and it helps me relax and stay focused.I can also use my time better, like doing homework on the bus to competitions.
W: Your teacher did say you have strong academic potential and next year’s college exams are important.
M: I agree. That’s why I’m trying to balance both study and sport. I’m interested in sports science, which needs good academic results as well as practical experience.
W: That sounds reasonable as long as you plan it carefully.
M: I think so. I’ll talk to dad tonight and explain how I’ll manage my time.
W: Good idea. I hope he understands.

Right, everyone here? Some information about the trip to the Jubilee Arts Centre next Wednesday. We have tickets for the concert hall and both theaters. In the concert hall you’ll hear piano works by Chopin and Schuman. The main theater is showing Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and the smaller one has Ibson’s the Wild Duck. If you’re without a ticket, I can still get you one for the Australian comedy spider and rose at the center cinema.
We leave by coach at 3:30 pm and arrive at about 4:45,giving you time to explore before all the shows begin at 7:30 PM. You’ll probably want to eat before the show. The balcony restaurant offers a wide range of meals but is rather expensive. The fountain restaurantoffers a good value three course meal. For a white snack, try Charlie’s coffee bar. After the shows, meet at the bridge street exit by 10:20 PM. The plays finish around 10:15 but concert goers will have to wait as the concertends earlier at 10 to 10.
