A friend of mine and I were sitting by a window in an excellent restaurant. My friend explained to me the importance of believing good things will happen. She called this"manifesting".There are many books on how to "manifest" success.According to these booksyou need to imagine success stronglyand then you will succeed. My friend had a wonderful job. Thanks to itshe had traveled to many interesting places and had enjoyed countless good meals. There were people with the same skills as she hadbut many of them just do boringlow-paying jobs.My friendinsteadachieved these things because she in her own words had imagined that she would achieve them. "Manifesting" can help people face difficult challenges.People who "manifest" believe that success will come to themand this gives them the courage to move ahead. But it can also help people feel better about their lives. They expect successand so they feel successful.ThisI thinkis close to the placebo(安慰剂) effect. In studies of new medicinesresearchers often give some patients sugar pills and say the pills are medicine. This helps them find out how well the medicine truly works. Many people use something similar to a placebo in their daily lives.College kids often choose a special shirt or baseball cap to wear during exams. They feel it will bring them good luck. Here in Chinaone of the newest placebo s is " Einstein's brain".It's on sale on shopping sites.Customers are told that after paying a little moneythey will develop a brain like that of the famous scientist.Do buyers really believe thisOf course not.But by "manifesting" a super-quick brainthey may feel relaxed andas a resultthink more clearly during exams. After studying enoughthey may find this kind of trick to be a great help. Well "manifesting"works in some wayhoweverif you don't do anythinghow can you ever have any good luck simply because of" manifesting"

Have you ever thought that you wouldnt have to take out the rubbish yourself? This is already happening in Hangzhou. People there can use a smartphone app to call a collector to pick up recyclable waste like cardboard and plastic. They can get eco-points that they can use to buy things like food as a reward.

This recycling service started in 2022. It now serves 559,000 families in Hangzhou. So far, it has collected about 400,000 tons of recyclable materials. This has greatly helped Hangzhou reduce its overall waste.

In January this year, the UN praised Hangzhou for its work and named it one of the worlds top 20 Zero Waste Cities. So, what does Zero-waste City mean? It is a way of managing a city that tries to create as little waste as possible.

China first started the zero-waste city idea in 2018. And it has developed fast. From 2021 to 2025, the zero-waste program grew to include 113 cities. It is a useful tool for cutting waste. And it even allows people to recycle their things online, said Li Gao, a government officer, who thought highly of the program.

Li also shared Chinas future plans. By 2027, 60 percent of cities in China are expected to take part in zero-waste development. By 2035, the plan is to have all cities included. To turn this national plan into local action, many cities have started their own projects.
