【必背佳作】

[A] Hi, Lisa, nice to meet you. I am Laura Miller, the teacher of the exchange program. I am very happy to have you as our exchange student. Let me introduce the places around our school to you. First, there are some restaurants near our school. Pizza House is the cheapest of them all. But it is always the most crowded. Mr. Wang’s Dumplings is a Chinese restaurant. It has the most traditional Chinese food here. I am sure you will like it. And if you want to buy some daily things, there are also different kinds of shops. On Center Street, you will find a big supermarket where you can get what you need. It has the best service and the freshest fruit. What’s more, it is the closest to our school. If you have any more problems, you can just call me through WeChat.

[B] Dear Lisa,

Welcome to our home. We are so happy that you will live with us for half a year.

We live in a big house with two floors. There is a living room, a dinning room and four bedrooms. You will live in the bedroom on the first floor. It is not too big but comfortable. The bed is next to the window. Through the window, you can enjoy the flowers in the garden which is behind our house. The desk is next to your bed. Some photos are on the desk. You can also read books or do your homework on it. There is also a small sofa and a bookcase in the bedroom. Some books are in the bookcase. You can choose the one you like to read. It’s good for your English.

Do you like your bedroom? If you need some other things, just write to me, I will prepare them for you. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Yours,

Ms. White

[B]John Green and Anna Green are a young couple. They just got married half a year ago. They rented a small apartment which was in a building of 6 floors in a gated community. They had to use a security card to enter the building every day. Strangers couldn’t get into it. There was no enough parking space for people to park their cars. Outside their community was a busy street. There was a grocery store in the neighborhood. They often bought what they had for three meals cheaply there. Things in it were the freshest in town. The Greens had a noisy life. Their next-door neighbors were some young people who liked having parties at night even on weekdays. The Greens couldn’t have a good sleep when their neighbors had parties, because they always played loud music and danced all night. John and Anna decided to move although the life there was the most convenient in town.

They looked for a long time and finally found a nice house. It is in an open community where gates and walls are gone. Everyone here enjoys better traffic, bigger green areas for picnics and more cafeterias to meet friends. A big park is near their new house. It is the most beautiful park they have ever seen. They can also enjoy the clean air and sunshine freely. There is a gym for people living nearby to exercise in. What’s more,

the neighbors here are very nice people. They like communication and sharing and never cause any trouble to each other. Sometimes on weekends, the Greens invite their neighbors to their house for dinner. Life for them becomes quiet and warm.

Now, John and Anna are happy and relaxed because of their new nice community.

[C]Dear Mom and Dad,

I am so happy that you are coming to see me.  Let me tell you something about my neighborhood.

I live in a nice neighborhood. There is a big supermarket. It’s between the cinema and the library on New Street. It sells all kinds of things the most cheaply in town. I often go there on weekends. There is also a park on Park Street. It takes me about 10 minutes to walk there. It is also a good place to relax. It has the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. And I can also enjoy the clean air.

To get to my home, you can take the subway at the airport and get off at Park Street. Then go down Park Street. When you see a hotel, turn right. My home is just across from the bus stop. I will draw a map for you. Then you can find my home easily.

I can’t wait to meet both of you.

Lisa
