A Test of Friendship
True friendship isn't measured by happy moments, but by how it withstands storms.
真正的友谊不是用快乐时刻来衡量,而是用它能经受多少风雨。
Last semester, Zhang Wei and I entered the same English speech contest.
上学期,张伟和我参加了同一个英语演讲比赛。
We practiced together daily, sharing ideas and encouraging each other.
我们每天一起练习,分享想法,互相鼓励。
However, only one could represent our school in the finals.
然而,只有一人能代表我们学校参加决赛。
When I was selected, Zhang Wei's smile seemed forced.

For days, he avoided me.

I considered withdrawing to save our friendship.

Then I remembered his words during practice: "We should compete to improve, not to defeat each other."

I shared my materials and practiced with him as if we were still teammates.
