第六段
①The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes, and they’d feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in. ②“So if you’re overpaying for print, you could feel like you were helping,” Peretti said. ③“Then increase it at a higher rate each year and essentially try to generate additional revenue.” ④In other words, if you’re going to make a print product, make it for the people who are already obsessed with it. ⑤Which may be what the Times is doing already. ⑥Getting the print edition seven days a week costs nearly $500 a year——more than twice as much as a digital-only subscription.
①The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes, andthey’d feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in.
①The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes
这里改一下句子:the idea goes thatThe most loyal customers would still get the product they favor, the idea goes.
The most loyal customers would still get the product they favor
②they’d feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in
they指customers
like后面是省略that的宾语从句:they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in
sustain vt.
quality n.
②“So if you’re overpaying for print, you could feel likeyou were helping,” Peretti said.“所以,如果,你正在为纸质报纸多付费,你可能觉得自己在帮忙,” 佩雷蒂说道。
overpay vt.
③“Then increase it at a higher rate each yearand essentially try to generate additional revenue.”
① Then increase it at a higher rate each year。
rate n.
② essentially try to generate additional revenue
essentially adv.基本上
generate vt. 产生
additional adj.额外的
④In other words, if you’re going to make a print product, make it for the people who are already obsessed with it.
In other words:
if部分是条件状语从句:if you’re going to make a print product
主句部分:make it for the people who are already obsessed with it.
make it for.....。
be obsessed by / with sth/ sb:被某人/某事迷住。
be obsessing about / over sth/ sb:担心某人/某事。
⑤Which may be what the Times is doing already.
⑥Getting the print edition seven days a week costs nearly $500 a year——more than twice as much as a digital-only subscription.
subscribe vt.
