中考英语阅读理解中，遇到生词是常态。很多同学一看到生词就紧张，甚至跳过去，导致理解偏差。
其实，即使不认识单词，也能通过上下文推测出它的意思。今天教你4种实用的猜词技巧，帮你轻松应对生词障碍。
四种猜词技巧
利用定义或解释
有些生词后面紧跟定义、同位语或定语从句，直接解释了词义。
信号词：is, means, refers to, that is, which is, such as...
A botanist is a scientist who studies plants.猜词：botanist = 植物学家
He suffers from insomnia — the inability to fall asleep.猜词：insomnia = 失眠
利用对比或转折
转折词（but, however, although, while, unlike, instead of等）会提示前后语义相反，从而推出生词含义。
Although the weather was torrid, we still had a great time outside.although提示转折，如果后半句“玩得开心”，前面天气应是“恶劣的”→ torrid = 酷热的
She is usually gregarious, but today she stayed alone.but提示转折，独处→gregarious = 爱社交的
利用逻辑关系
因果、递进、举例等逻辑关系也能提供线索。
因果词：because, so, therefore, lead to, as a result...
He was exhausted because he had worked for 12 hours.工作了12小时→ exhausted = 筋疲力尽的
递进词：also, besides, moreover, in addition...
He is stingy; moreover, he never invites friends over.从不请客→ stingy = 吝啬的
利用常识和经验
结合自己的生活经验和背景知识推测。
The migrant birds fly south every winter.常识：冬天鸟类飞往南方→ migrant = 迁徙的
He carefully delineated the outline of the building.常识：画建筑物的轮廓→ delineate = 描绘
实战演练
阅读下面句子，猜出划线词的含义：
The arid desert received no rain for years. （根据常识：沙漠无雨→ arid = 干旱的）
She is an omnivore, eating both meat and vegetables. （定义：既吃肉又吃菜→ omnivore = 杂食动物）
Unlike his loquacious brother, Tom is a man of few words. （unlike提示对比→ loquacious = 健谈的）
