雅思写作本周的考题是一道旧题:
Some people believe that air travel should be restricted as it causes serious pollution and will use up the world’s fuel resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
题目是个常见话题(环境与发展),本身难度不大,如果能做到 as 前后两个部分(air travel should be restricted 以及 it causes serious pollution and will use up the world’s fuel resources)都充分的讨论到,基本上得分就会比较稳了。
Intro: Introduce issue + opinion
B-1: Why concern is valid
B-2: Why restrictions are problematic
B-3: Better alternatives
Con: Conclusion
高分范文:
Some argue that flights should be limited because they create significant pollution and consume finite fuel resources. I partly agree with this view. Although aviation causes environmental damage, imposing broad restrictions on air travel would create serious economic and social problems. A better solution is to make the industry cleaner and more efficient.
There is no doubt that air travel contributes to environmental harm. Aircraft release large amounts of carbon dioxide and other emissions into the atmosphere, which worsen climate change. Another concern is that most airplanes still depend heavily on fossil fuels, which are non-renewable resources. If demand keeps increasing without control, pressure on global energy supplies will become greater.
Despite these concerns, restricting air travel is not the most practical response. First, aviation plays a vital role in the global economy. Many industries, such as tourism, international trade and business services, rely on fast and reliable transport. Severe limits on flights could damage employment and reduce economic growth, especially in countries that depend on visitors from abroad. Second, air travel also brings important personal and social benefits. It allows families to stay connected across continents and gives students and professionals access to educational and career opportunities overseas.
Instead of reducing access to flying, governments and companies should focus on sustainable alternatives. Investment in cleaner aviation fuel, electric or hybrid aircraft, and more fuel-efficient engines could significantly reduce emissions in the long term. Governments could also introduce carbon taxes or encourage passengers to choose direct flights, which generally produce fewer emissions than journeys with multiple connections.
In conclusion, while air travel undeniably creates pollution and uses valuable fuel resources, strict restrictions are neither realistic nor desirable. The more effective approach is to improve aviation technology and manage demand responsibly rather than simply limiting people’s ability to fly.
