Anne of Green Gables is a great book by Lucy Maud Montgomery. In the story, two siblings, Marilla and Matthew, live on a farm called Green Gables. They are getting old and need someone to help with the farm work. So, they decide to adopt a boy from an orphanage. But there's a mistake.

Lucy Maud Montgomery was raised by her grandparents following her mother's early death. She began keeping diaries and writing poetry at the age of nine, and this creative practice helped ease her loneliness. She finished writing 《Anne of Green Gables 》in 1905, getting ideas from her own childhood stories. When the book was finally published three years later, it became an immediate hit among readers of all ages. When she died in 1942, she was buried in her hometown of Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.
