The two diagrams illustrate how Porth Harbour has changed between the year 2000 and the present day.
Overall, the harbour has undergone significant redevelopment, shifting from a mixed fishing and leisure port into a modern, tourism-focused destination with greatly expanded commercial and visitor facilities.
Looking at the northern and central areas of the harbour first. In 2000, the northwest had a marina for private yachts, while fishing boats were moored to the south of this site. Today, these two zones have swapped positions: the fishing boat area is now in the north, and the marina has moved southwards. Two new sets of showers and toilets have also been added beside the existing car parking areas on the western side, while the number of docks for passenger ferries has also increased.
In the southern part of the harbour, the most dramatic change is the removal of the disused old castle. In its place, a large new hotel has been constructed, alongside a private beach reserved exclusively for hotel guests. Additionally, new cafes and retail shops have been built next to the original lifeboat station. Finally, the former public beach on the southern coast has been converted into this private hotel beach area.

The diagram outlines the process of producing ethanol, a type of biofuel, from plant-based materials.
Overall, ethanol production involves seven main stages. It begins with the growth of vegetation and ends with the combustion of the energy, which releases carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere to support plant growth.
In the first stage, plants and trees absorb energy from sunlight and carbon dioxide to grow. Once harvested, the raw plant material undergoes pre-processing to extract cellulose, a key structural component. Following this, the cellulose is broken down into sugars, and microbes are added to facilitate the conversion of these sugars into ethanol.
The resulting ethanol is transferred to a factory and then processed to refine the fuel. Finally, the ethanol is used as fuel in cars, trucks, and aeroplanes. During combustion, carbon dioxide is emitted, which completes the cycle as this gas is reused by plants during photosynthesis.
