On April 20, 2026, Chen Yanshou, a volunteer (志愿者) from Ruili Blue Sky Rescue Team in Yunnan, passed away at the age of 39 while carrying out a rescue mission (任务) in Haba Snow Mountain. He was a true hero of volunteer spirit.

Chen volunteered to go deep into the snow-covered area to search for people in need. At 4:00 a.m., he suffered an emergency (突发的) condition at 4,300 meters above sea level. Even with immediate first aid (急救) from teammates, he could not be saved.
Chen’s story shows what volunteer spirit really means. It is about selfless (无私的) giving and putting others’ lives above one’s own. He kept the team motto (队训) “Do more, say less; give silently” in his heart, and finally carved it into the snow of Haba Mountain.
