CIE AS经济:Essay真题精讲(Paper22 March24)

今天，我们来讲2024春季卷（印度卷）的一道12分微观Essay真题。

题目如下：

分值分布：

关于12分Essay题的分值分布，想必大家已经很清楚了。

• AO1（knowledge and understanding）+ AO2（analysis）：合计8分

• AO3（Evaluation）：4分

题目分析：

题目问到improved provision of information是否是减少demerit goods消费的最好方法？

需要注意的是当题目里出现"best"时，我们至少要写另外一个alternative policy来进行对比才能得出结论。

写作结构：

建议大家在开始写Essay前，也简单列一个类似的writing plan，这样可以大大降低越写越偏，甚至跑题的概率。

很多同学写着写着就忘了题目问的是什么，开始自由发挥。一旦跑题，分数必然会惨不忍睹。

如何写好analysis？

说到analysis，大部分同学基本都知道需要合理的观点和完整的logic chain，但这些远远不够拿一个好的分数。

如果你的analysis部分只有纯理论分析，没有图表和例子这些supporting details，是不够丰富完整的。接下来，我结合这道题目来给大家讲解下如何写好analysis.

比如，我们要分析effectiveness of improved provision of information  on reducing consumption of demerit goods，可这样写：

By providing more information about the negative effects of demerit goods, such as health risks for themselves and those nearby, or impact of these goods on environment, it is possible that consumers may make informed choices, causing consumption for these goods fall.For example, public service announcements that highlight the risks of junk food may lead to increased awareness of health risks such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure.As a result, some consumers may decide to reduce their intake, leading to a leftward shift in the demand curve for these goods, and then lower consumption.

为了方便讲解，我把整个段落分成了2种颜色，一开始的黑色部分是从理论上来分析provision of information能在一定程度上降低对demerit goods的消费。

红色部分是通过具体的例子来论证之前的理论分析，理论分析需要这样的supporting details才算有理有据。否则，如果你的写作只是不停地重复观点和理论，没有这些supporting details，会被认为是没有深入分析的表现。

如果时间允许，最好再画一个经济图表，当demand减少时（D1到D2），会造成quantity从Q1下降到Q2，代表comsumption减少。

如何写好evaluation？

以这道题为例，我们可以这来写：

Overall, improved provision of information may effectively reduce the consumption of demerit goods, however, it is not necessarily the most effective method on its own. The limitations of this method, such as habitual consumption and irrational behaviours of consumers may reduce its effectiveness to some extent. Under some circumstances, it  may be better to be used with other polices, such as regulation and indirect tax to reduce consumption of demerit goods.

我建议，不要对Evaluation过度纠结。
