三、阅读理解(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)

Task III Understand the secret of prices.

A

What is economies?

Some people think that economics is all about money, banks and very difficult charts. But it’s actually a lot simpler than that—much of economics is really about understanding choices.

How prices respond to people

Prices influence how much people want to buy and produce. But it also works the other way around—how much people want to buy and produce makes prices change too.

• If there’s more supply (供应量) than there is demand (需求), it sends a signal to a seller to lower prices.

• If there’s less supply than there is demand, it sends a signal to a seller to increase prices.

Over time, the price changes until it reaches a point where there’s as much demand as there is supply. This is known as the equilibrium price. The price is just right—it’s high enough for the seller and low enough for customers.

26What is economics mainly about?

AMaking charts.BStudying banks.CUnderstanding choices.DSpending money.

27What is the best price tor both buyers and sellers?

AA fixed price to cut costs.BA higher price to make money.CA loner price to catch people’s attention.

DAn accepted price to balance supply and demand.

28Which price will the seller in the picture probably choose tomorrow?

Task IV Present what to do for wildlife.

B

Word Wildlife Day takes place on Monday, March 3. One way to celebrate the wild animals that live all around us-and to educate others about their importance—is to make a mature documentary. All you need to create this film is a camera and a subject. Here’s how you can get started.

Pick a theme

First, decide what you would like your nature documentary to be about. Do you want to film wildlife that lives outside your home, or would you rather ask an adult to go with you to a nearby park or nature reserve? Do some research and choose local wildlife that interests you. For example, think about tho animals that live in your region and the animals you are more likely to see during daylight hours.

Once you decide what to film, do some deeper research on your subject: Take motes that can help you look for interesting facts to film. For example, what are some of tho animal’s feeding habits? Research the physical differences you might spot between males and females of the same animals, from size to color to behavior.

Film and edit

You can just use a video camera or a phone with a camera to make a nature documentary. When you re ready to film, stay a comfortable distance from wildlife so you don't frighten (吓走) away your subject. You can also film an introduction: Put your camera iff selfie mode, Introduce yourself, and let the viewers know why you chose your subject. Finally, you can use a free app to edit your film and add titles.

Host a screening

When you're happy with your film, invite family and friends to watch it You can have a screening at home or check with your local library about a meeting room. After the screening, have a question and answer session so the viewers can ask you about your documentary. Finally, thank everyone for coming!

Many years ago, people who saw waves (光波) of color dance across the sky at night were scared. Some groups of people made up legends to explain what today is known as the northern lights, while others still have the query (质疑) about them.

The sun gives off particles (粒子) that are filled with energy. Large groups of these particles travel together. They are called solar wind. The particles travel through space at hundreds of miles per second. Even traveling that fast, it still takes several days for the particles to reach Barth. When the solar wind gets close to Earth, it moves toward the two magnetic poles, the North Pole and the South Pole.

When the solar particles get close to Barth, they become trapped in Barth’s atmosphere (大气层). They collide; or run into, gases in the atmosphere. The energy that is made in that collision () creates light. When lots of these collisions happen at the same time, the northern lights can be seen from Barth. The northern lights are harmless, but it can be scaring to see the sky fill with flashing colored lights if you do not know what they are.

As far as scientists can tell, the northern lights do not make any sounds that people on Barth can hear. Even so, if you live in a place where the northern lights can be seen, you might notice problems with your television or cell phone every once in a while. The energy created by solar wind in the Earth’s atmosphere can get in the way of sound waves and pictures that travel through the air to your TV or phone.

The northern lights are truly amazing, especially the first time you see them. Even in the highest latitudes, the lowest part of the lights are still 40 miles above Barth. The northern lights stretch up about six hundred miles into the atmosphere. Imagine what a light show you would see if you were an astronaut looking down on the northern lights from space.

33What causes the northern lights?

AThe sound waves created by solar wind.

BThe particles traveling at high speed in space.

CThe solar particles hitting gases in the atmosphere.

DThe solar wind at the North Pole and the South Pole.

34Which of the following is influenced by the Northern lights?

AThe use of e-products.BThe direction of solar wind.

CThe condition of people’s hearing.

DThe level of light pollution.

35What is the best title for the passage?

ASpace: An unknown world

BSolar Wind: Traveling at high speed

CLights: Fall of mysteryDAstronauts: Pioneers exploring space

36Which is the best query after reading the passager

AWhere does the solar wind come from?

BWhen are the solar particles trapped in the atmosphere?

CHow did people feel about the northern lights many years ago?DWhy are the northem lights harmless since they cause problems?

During her recovery, Dove kept a diary about her experiences and decided that she wanted to help others through her writing, and change people’s ideas about what it’s like to be an amputee (someone who has had an arm or leg cut off). Dove says, “I chose roller-skating as the activity that my character learns to do because it’s one of the things where you’d be like, ‘you’ve got one leg, you can’t do that!”

In the story, we join Maya as she excitedly returns to school, only to discover that her best friend has ditched (抛弃) her for a new group of girls. “At that age you’re experiencing friendship struggles (挣扎), dilemmas, fitting in and learning who you truly are,” says Dove.
