a部分是F的同位语（这里的这个弗雷德曼和上面说的公司总裁乔治·弗雷德曼不是一个人）：a former political science professor
former adj. 从前的；以前的（the former：前者）
latter adj. 后来的（the latter：后者）
④“And we’ll hear back from some of them.”我们会从他们当中的一些人那里得到反馈。
hear back from：收到...的回信。
⑤Open-source spying does have its risks, of course, since it can be difficult to tell good information from bad.当然，公开来源的间谍情报也有风险，因为，很难区分好信息和坏信息。

这里的does是用作强调的
since后面是原因状语从句：it can be difficult to tell good information from bad
it是形式主语，to部分才是真正的主语
tell vt. 区分；区别（以后还会考）

that指上一句说的区分好坏很难这件事情
where部分是宾语从句
earn one’s keep：维持生计；挣口饭吃。
【逻辑梳理】这里的言外之意就是，这家公司能干这个事情，能区分信息的好坏，就是靠这个吃饭，有这个能力。
总结：第四段是说，网络世界是非常有利于情报收集和传播的，但是，会带来一个问题——很难区分好的和坏的信息，而这就是斯特雷福德公司吃饭的地方。
