2022年4月6日，教育部发布《关于做好2022年中考命题工作的通知》，要求各地积极推进省级统一命题。尚未实行省级统一命题的省份，特别是辖区内地市命题单位存在命题管理不完善、条件保障不到位、命题人员数量不足、命题质量不高等问题的省份，要力争2022年实现省级统一命题，确保命题质量。确不具备条件的省份，要研究提出加快推进省级统一命题的工作方案，明确时间表、路线图，到2024年实现中考省级统一命题。从对各地中考命题跟踪评估的情况看，一些地方还存在超标命题、试卷难度不合理、记忆性试题比例偏高等问题。2022年将迎来“双减”政策实施后第一次中考，做好2022年中考命题工作，对于引导深化义务教育教学改革、促进减负提质、巩固“双减”成果具有重要意义。要求各地要坚决取消初中学业水平考试大纲或考试说明，不得超标命题和随意扩大、压减考试内容范围，严禁将高中课程内容、学科竞赛试题以及校外培训内容作为考试内容，确保依标命题、教考衔接。进一步对各相关学科中考试卷考试时长、容量、难度等提出规范要求，既要防止试卷过难增加学生学业负担，也要避免试卷过易难以体现区分度。要根据不同学科特点，合理设置试卷试题结构，减少记忆性试题，增加探究性、开放性、综合性试题，坚决防止偏题怪题。
自2022年教育部发出通知提出2024年中考将实现全省统一命题的构想后，2023年及之前，实现中考统一命题的地区即有21个：北京、上海、天津、重庆、河南、河北、安徽、福建、江西、广西、陕西、山西、宁夏、内蒙古、甘肃、青海、云南、新疆、西藏、海南和贵州。
《2025年海南省初中学业水平考试和高中阶段学校招生工作实施细则》规定：语文、数学、英语（含听力）每科卷面满分120分；道德与法治、历史、物理、化学、生物、地理每科卷面满分100分；体育与健康满分60分。全部考试科目原始分总分由语文、数学、英语、道德与法治、历史、物理、化学、体育与健康8个考试科目原始分与生物、地理2个考试科目原始分的50%相加而成，满分920分。道德与法治和历史开卷考试。
