Passage 1

Honey   from the African(1) forest is not only a kind   of natural sugar , it is also delicious(2) . Most people , and many   animals , like eating(3) it . However , the only way   for them to get that honey is to find a wild bees' nest and take the   honey from it . Often , these nests are high up in trees , and it is   difficult to find them . In parts of Africa , though , people and animals looking(4) for honey have a strange and unexpected(5)helper(6) -- a little bird called a honey guide .

The   honey guide does not actually like honey , but it does like the wax(7) in the beehives(8) . The little bird cannot   reach this wax(7) , which is deep inside the   bees' nest . So , when it finds a suitable(9)nest , it looks for someone to help   it . The honey guide gives a loud cry that attracts the attention of both passing(10) animals and people . Once it has their attention ,   it flies through the forest , waiting from time to time for the curious   animal or person as it leads them to the nest . When they finally   arrive at the nest , the follower(11) reaches   in to get the delicious(2) honey as the bird patiently(12) waits and watches . Some of the honey , and the wax(7) , always falls to the ground , and this is when the   honey guide takes its share .

Scientists   do not know why the honey guide likes eating(3) the wax(7) , but it is very determined(13) in its efforts to get it . The birds seem to be   able to smell wax(7) from a long distance away .   They will quickly arrive whenever a beekeeper(14) is taking honey from his beehives , and will even   enter churches when beeswax(15) candles   are being lit ..

Passage 2

Last   Friday , I was coming home late after spending(20) time   with friends and thought I'd go down to the $99 cent pizza place . On the way   , I saw a man sitting(21) on   the stairs(22) alone   there . I'd seen him before every day I ran late to work , but this time I   had no place to rush off to .

There   was something about him , a quiet manner , different from many of other   homeless people I had seen in New York City . I walked past him , went to the   pizza place , and those(23) 10 seconds(24)waiting(25) in line was enough to practice stepping outside of   my usual , familiar flow . So with a few slices in hand , I went back to join   him . I asked him if he was hungry . He said yes , but not for pizza because   it made him uncomfortable . He'd rather have a few bucks for chicken and rice   since it was easier on his stomach . It's funny , in that moment , he became   more real to me .

This   man I had seen almost every day was someone with specific conditions , needs   , and experiences . We exchanged names and ended up talking(26) for a little over an hour that night as Kevin told   me stories from his life , how he had done things when " he was younger   and didn't know any better(27) "   and how he tried to make amends(28) ,   but too much time had passed(29) .   He shared(30) his   views on the value for young adults to learn the history of other people .

He talked(26) about his one wish being in his 60's before he leaves(31) this earth , which is to share(30) his story with the teenagers and young adults so   they could(32) avoid   the mistakes he went through . Throughout the conversation , he eventually   got his chicken and rice and gifted me a rose(33) he   had been carrying(34) .   Shortly afterwards , I made my way home , thinking to myself , " I met   an amazing(35) homeless   person ".

根据第一段的these nests are high up in treesand itis difficult to find them.

When they finally arrive at the nestthefollower reaches in to get the delicious honey as the bird patiently waits andwatches.

Scientists do not know why the honey guide likeseating the waxbut it is very determined (下决心) in its efforts to get it. 故选A

6. B根据 he said yes, but not for pizza because it made him uncomfortable可知,这个无家可归的人拒绝吃披萨是因为他的胃有毛病。

Passage 1

Passage 2
