Welcome to our school and wish you a good time here. Today I want to share something about traditional Chinese culture with you.
There are many kinds of traditional Chinese culture. Some of them have a long history. They have influenced many people.
Beijing Opera comes first. As one of Chinese national treasures, Beijing Opera comes from “Huiban” and it has three parts, including singing, dancing, and speaking. It’s full of famous stories, and it is loved by Chinese people of all ages.
The next one is about paper cuttings. Paper cuttings are in all kinds of shapes like animals, flowers or characters from Chinese folk stories. During the Spring Festival, paper cuttings are put on windows, doors and walls. Chinese people believe that they are symbols of wishes for good luck.
Thanks for your listening.

Nowadays, with the popularity of Chinese style, more people show great interest in traditional Chinese culture. My favorite traditional Chinese culture is calligraphy, which has a long history and has influenced many people.
I started learning calligraphy at eight. At first, it was challenging for me to use the brush to write Chinese characters. My wrist would ache after holding the brush for a long time. Fortunately, with the help of my teacher, I gradually improved. Now, I can write spring couplets for my family every year. It makes me proud.
Learning calligraphy has a great influence on me. I become more patient and careful thanks to years of practice. I also feel honored to be able to pass down this traditional Chinese culture.

Tea is an important part of Chinese culture. Chinese people have liked drinking tea since ancient times. Tea has a history of over 4000 years since the Chinese began to grow and drink tea. There are many kinds of tea in China, such as green tea, black tea, oolong tea and so on. Longjing Tea is famous all over the world. People use tea pots or tea cups to drink tea. They are made of ceramics. Drinking tea is good for health. It’s said that green tea can prevent cancer. When you are tired, a cup of tea can help you relax.
I hope you will enjoy Chinese tea and love China. Thanks for listening.

These days, I am reading something about Chinese culture. I have found the colour red is popular and significant (意义重大) in China. So I am interested in it and want to know more about it. Why do Chinese like red so much? When, where and how do you use it? I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say about it.
Thanks.
It’s great to hear from you. I’m glad that you’re interested in Chinese red. Now, let me tell you something about Chinese red.
Chinese red, considered as the symbolic color of China, is extremely popular with Chinese people. It is usually a symbol of happiness, and we believe that it can bring us auspiciousness.
People in our country attach such great importance to Chinese red that they use many red objects in some important events. For instance, in a wedding, you can see that the bride is in a red wedding dress and the wedding room is decorated with red. What’s more, the houses are also filled with red paper cuts, lanterns and Chinese Knots during the Spring Festival. Children will get red pockets for best wishes as well. Obviously, Chinese red plays a significant role and enjoys the highest popularity in China.
I hope my letter will help you understand Chinese red better. If you want to know more about our culture, you can visit China.

From my point of view, paper-cut is a good choice to be special Chinese gifts for your family. Paper-cuts are usually used to decorate the house. They are put on windows, doors and walls to celebrate the Spring Festival. Paper-cuts are a traditional Chinese culture, from which you can have a better understanding of China. People like them very much because they are seen as symbols for good luck and a happy new year.
I hope my advice is helpful. Best wishes!

During the activity, the cooks from our school introduced traditional styles of cooking and cooked many famous dishes like stinky tofu and Gong Bao Chicken. Many students enjoyed traditional food and watched the process of cooking. They also cooked by themselves with the help of the cooks. All the students spoke highly of this activity which let them have a better understanding of China’s rich and profound food culture.

How is everything going? It is one of the most well-known traditional folk arts in China. Last week, our class held a class meeting on the theme of our favorite non-material cultural heritage. Half of the students like pottery. One third of the students like traditional festivals, such as Dragon Boat Festival, Spring Festival and so on. I like paper-cutting. Because its patterns have a special beauty. I really expect that the inheritor will guide us to the colorful world of traditional culture.
The non-material cultural heritage is the wealth of our country. By learning those skills, students can learn more about China’s rich culture. At the same time, learning it can help students develop a sense of national pride. What’s more, after learning it, students will have a chance to become inheritors and help pass down intangible cultural heritage.
Looking forward to your reply.

The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China, which comes in January or February.
Before the Spring Festival, people buy new clothes and clean their houses. People who live or work away from their hometowns will go back.
On New Year’s Eve, all the family members get together to enjoy a big dinner and watch Spring Festival Gala. People also let off fireworks. The elderly give red packets to children. During the Spring Festival, people visit their relatives and friends, and have meals with them.

My favorite Chinese festival is the Dragon Boat Festival.
It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. It’s a day to remember Qu Yuan, a great poet. On this day, people usually eat zongzi and hold dragon boat races. They also drink realgar wine, hang Chinese mugwort around the doors and carry a spice bag around with them.
What makes the festival special for me is the dragon boat race. The members of the dragon boat team have such great team spirit that everybody tries their best to win the race.
So I like Dragon Boat Festival very much.

I’d like to tell you something about Mid-Autumn Festival. It is one of the most famous traditional festivals in China. It falls on August 15th of the lunar calendar. People believe that the moon is a symbol of reunion, luck and fortune, so they express best wishes to each other on that day. Mooncakes are the traditional food of this festival. People often get together to have dinner, admire the moon and share mooncakes.
Last year, my parents and I spent the Mid-Autumn Festival at my grandparents’ house. My grandparents told me the story of Chang’e, and we enjoyed the moon together. It was really a wonderful experience.

Welcome to the Chinese culture tour. Now please allow me to introduce one of the Chinese traditional festivals — the Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival falls in January or February. It is Chinese New Year and also the biggest day of the year. So people come back home from different places and get together for a big dinner. Many people stay up late to welcome the new year, hoping they will have a bright new start.
During the festival, people visit their relatives and friends and wish each other good luck for the new year. Children can often get hongbao from their elders. Do you think it interesting?
That’s all. Thanks for listening.
