During the Three Kingdoms Period Master Strategist Zhuge Liang was famous for studying natural phenomena to predict weather conditions and their effect upon events on the battlefield.

He, harmony, means synergetic compatibility between humans and nature.

和，即和谐，是指人与自然之间的融洽契合。

What does that mean it’s supposed to, in the way, in my head, originally everything was in peace, in harmony. Until we lost the sense of peace. We got distracted by the noise around us. And we lose it. So coming back to harmony.

在我心中我所理解的“和”是万事万物都源始于一种和平、和谐中。直到我们失去了那种和平宁静的感觉。我们流连忘返于身边的聒噪嘈杂。从而失去了内心的平静。因此我们需要重新回到那种和谐的状态。

Harmony, He, is also consonance. Harmony and consonance. The pictographic word is composed of a mouth and a crop. So what does that mean? The old hieroglyphic picture of the word is actually crops and instruments and people singing along. So you can see harmony and celebration, okay?

Without harmony, there’s no celebration.

Harmony, He, is one of the most important social fabrics in his country. When the society rises, it wants to have a harmonious rise. When the community is peaceful, it needs to be harmonious. When there’s love and harmony in the family, there needs to be He.

和谐“和”是在这个国家维稳社会结构的最重要元素之一。当这个社会繁荣起来时，它想要和谐地繁荣昌盛。若一个社区是和平的，那么它也应当是和谐的。当一个家庭有着爱与和谐，它就要讲“和”。

Harmony is a very, very important term for today’s world with regard to international relations. I think in this context the idea of harmony is making our differences complimentary, is making a beautiful music out of the different interests tuning them together is a very important aspect. Something we can really learn from the ancient Chinese civilization.

“和”的概念在当下对国际关系来说也非常重要。我想在此背景之下，和谐的思想是指我们求同存异，是我们唱着不同的曲调，也能互利共赢。将不同的旋律和谐地安置到一个曲子中是一个重要的方面。这是我们能真正从源远流长的华夏文明中学习到的东西。

“He”- Harmony, balance, coordination

“和”是和谐、协调、平衡之意。

In Chinese traditional virtues, harmony is precious. Family harmony is the basis for success of everything. That stopping war is a true craft of war also emphasizes harmony.

在我们传统美德当中有很多讲“家和万事兴”， 讲“以和为贵”包括我们习武，也是讲“和”，“止戈为武”也是讲一个“和”字。
