听力原文
Text 1

W: Thanks for returning The Merchant of Venice in such a short time. How do you find the novel?

M: Can’t be better. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it this much.

Text 2

W: Do you know if Andrew is coming for dinner? It’s 7:10 already.

M: He’ll be late. He told me not to wait for him. So we can enjoy our meal right now, Mom.

W: All right. The last course is almost done.

Text 3

M: Excuse me, Madam. Could you please take a picture of us?

W: I’d love to, but I’m in a hurry to catch the C-train. You can ask the man at the bus station for help.

Text 4

M: Tina, would you like to go swimming?

W: Thanks, Carl,  but I’ll have to relax at home. I’m feeling exhausted.

M: Oh, yes, you’ve just been back from a business trip.

Text 5

M: Madeline, shall we go to see No More Bets tonight? I’ve got two tickets.

W: I’d love to, Jacob. By the way, can I ask my brother Tommy to go together?

M: Sure, Tommy is one of my best friends.

Text 6

W: Have you ever been to Beijing, Jim?

M: Yes, I have. I visit there with my parents every summer.

W: Oh, what’s the occasion?

M: We go to spend time with my grandparents and uncle who live there. Sometimes my father goes there twice and even three times a year.

W: How do you like living there? I heard the traffic there was crowded.

M: It used to be, but it’s quite smooth now. However, I prefer taking the subway over driving when going around there.

W: Great! I think I would like to continue my studies in Beijing after graduation.

Text 7

M: So, Mary, what do you think about joining the science club this semester?

W: I’m interested,  but I’m not sure if I have enough time. I’m already in the debate club and the soccer team.

M: I get that, but it’s only twice a month, and they do some cool experiments. You know how Mr. Thomas always talks about applying what we learn in class.

W: That does sound interesting. Do they require any previous science experience?

M: Not really, it’s more about having fun and learning new things together. You should give it a try.

W: Okay, I think I will. Can you let me know the next meeting time?

M: Sure, it’s next Wednesday after school in the lab. They’ll be doing a robotics introduction, which should be pretty cool.

W: Awesome, I’ll see you there!

Text 8

W: If you could have dinner with any famous person from the past, who would it be?

M: Hmm, that’s a thoughtful question. Maybe I’d go with Albert Einstein.

W: Really? Are his theories interesting to you?

M: Actually, I’m more curious about his thoughts on modern scientific advancements. And I’ve always heard he had a good sense of humor. I’d love to experience that myself.

W: That does sound interesting.

M: Yes. What about you? Who would you pick?

W: I think I’d choose Frida Kahlo. Her life seemed full of struggles yet she was able to create such powerful and emotional art.

M: Her life story is quite inspiring. And her perspective on art and life would be fascinating to study.

W: Absolutely. Plus, I want to hear directly from her about the political and cultural climate of the day as well as the era she lived in.

Text 9

M: Is this the line for concert tickets this Saturday?

W: It is here. I’m waiting, and so are all these people in front of me.

M: I want to buy tickets, too. I’m short on time. Have you been waiting long?

W: I’ve been here about half an hour, and so far I have moved a total of 20 meters in the time.

M: You’re kidding!

W: I’m not. Maybe they don’t have enough staff to sell the tickets.

M: I just hope there are still tickets left by the time I get up to the counter.

W: I’d be really disappointed if I don’t get one.

M: I wish I had come here before lunch instead of now. Has it been like this all day long?

W: Obviously so. At first, I called to do all of these over the phone, but they said they weren’t taking phone orders. Nor did they sell tickets on the Internet.

M: There are three and a half hours before the ticket office closes. I guess I’d better stay. Tickets to a good concert are worth waiting for.

Text 10

W: Good morning, respected teachers and dear students. It’s a great honor to be back here today, revisiting the place that laid the groundwork for my future. Walking around the campus this morning, I noticed remarkable changes. The addition of the environmental science center, equipped with a rooftop garden and solar panels, showcases our school’s dedication to sustainability. The library, now doubled in size and featuring advanced technology zones, offers more resources than ever before. When I was here, I started as a Biology major but switched to Computer Science in my second year. This decision paved the way for my career in technology. Now, I work as a project manager in a renewable energy firm, blending my passion for technology and the environment. Looking back, the most important lessons weren’t just in the specifics of programming or biology, but in learning how to adapt, work with others, and chase what truly inspires you. The world of work is always changing, and the abilities you’re developing now will help you move forward in it. To all of you, I say: dive into what this school offers. Beyond studying, engage in clubs, secure internships, and remain curious. The road ahead is full of potential, starting with self-belief and the courage to pursue your passions. It’s about the journey and the impact you have on others. Thank you for letting me share my story. I’m eager to see your future successes.
