The Minnesota House passed a bill (法案). It says the government will offer free lunch and breakfast to all Minnesota school students, no matter what their family situations are.
The program will ensure one daily breakfast and lunch to every student who wants one.
“As a state, we are short of providing equal chances for all students and in a state with an agricultural tradition as rich as ours it is particularly unacceptable that any child goes hungry," said Rep. Sydney Jordan.
Providing free meals for students will cost about $200 million every year, according to the report by the government. Most of Minnesota schools receive federal funding (联邦资金)from the National School Lunch Program, which pays for each meal served for them, though it doesn't cover the cost of the entire meal.
This bill will fill the funding gap (资金缺口).
“We do have some meal programs already, but a quarter of hungry kids in Minnesota schools do notqualify (取得资格) for those programs," said Rep.Sydney Jordan. “And so with this bill, this will make sure that every child has the tools--breakfast and lunch--to succeed in school.”
Free meals will be offered to over 600,000 Minnesota students.

Stand in front of a mirror and look at it. Who's thatthere? How much do you really know about the person in it? It'snot an easy job to know ourselves. To help students do this important task, schools across China are providing more classes and activities on self-knowledge.
Liu Yue, a teacher from Chengdu Yucai Middle School, has recently given her students a useful tool. "It's called the Johari Window, developed bytwo US psychologists(心理学家),”said Liu.
“Ithas four areas about one's self, open area (that everyone knows about ), hidden area (that only you know), blind spot (that everyone knows except you) and unknown area (that nobody knows).Using this tool, students did a good job seeing themselves through a new lens (透镜)."

When it came to the hidden area, most students kept silent. "I'm scared to show my secrets deep down," said Li Yixuan. “Then one classmate stood up and said his favorite cartoon is Tom and Jerry. I thought: Am I brave enough to show my childish hobby? Perhaps not. I want my classmates to see me as a mature(成熟的) person, not a silly kid. But now I don't find that classmate silly. We all need cash(现金) in order to live our lives. However. something called digital currency is slowly taking the place of cash. A currency is kind of money. Usually, we use currency when we talk about a country’s money. If something is digital, it only exists(存在) on a computer. So “digital currency” means money that only exists on computers.
Lots of people have digital currency accounts(账户). They use a credit card(信用卡) to change their real money into digital money, and then the money goes into the digital currency account. A lot of people wonder, “Why in the world should I change my real money into digital currency?” This is a fair question, but there’s a good answer. If you want to buy something online, then you usually have to use digital currency. For example. If you’re in China and you want to buy something in Canada, then you’ll have to pay with the digital currency.
Many people still don’t trust digital currency. Some people think that if they can’t hold their money in their hand, then it doesn’t seem real. These people don’t feel comfortable when they see numbers on a computer screen. The computer tells them that their money is safe but these people don’t really feel safe. Another problem is security(安全). There are hackers all over the world. A hacker is a person who steals and then gets computer information. If a hacker gets the password of your digital currency account, he or she can steal and then get your money.
You have to decide whether or not you trust this new invention. Just remember one thing: If you want to buy something online, then you probably won’t have a choice. You’ll have to use digital currency.

It was the first time that a Chinese snowboarder had ever competed in this event at any Olympics. Su was introduced to snowboarding at the age of 4 by his parents, who were both snowboarding fans. Su fell in love with the sport the first time they took him to a ski center. Later he kept on practicing after class. To save up more time for snowboarding, he would get up at 5 am and finish his homework early.

Behind his success is Su’s hard work. He has made full use of every chance to train more. Usually he arrived at the training center earlier than his teammates. In that way, he could practice more. He even broke several snowboards in one week because of heavy training.

Travelling around the world can be exciting, but it can also lead to culture shock and feelings of stress. When I moved to Tuscany, Italy, right after college, I was enamoured by the scenery. Who wouldn't be? The rolling hills, beautiful buildings and delicious food made the long flight worth every minute. I was excited about my new beginning. But then, I started to notice little things. As an American, we are used to a bit of personal space. Where I'm from, knocking into someone or standing very closely is considered rude. This is different from the truth in Italy.Since this was before translation apps were common, I would feel helpless sometimes for not knowing the language. However, Italians like to speak with their hands—a habit I've carried over to this day.Of course, just because you've experienced culture shock in one country doesn't mean you won't do so in another.Years later, when I moved to China, my experience was special. The culture there was something very foreign to me—down to how to buy things. Before moving there, I had never heard of online payment apps. I wasn't prepared at all for how important these things would be.Experiencing small waves of culture shock reminds me that I am travelling around the world and that I should appreciate what I'm taking in.American-British writer Bill Bryson said, "…the greatest reward (回报) of travel is to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar that it is taken for granted (被认为是理所当然的)."

According to Ken Croswell, the Sun and the Moon are different. We often think that the Sun rules the day and the Moon rules the night. That's not totally right.
The Sun shines during the day when we see it, and even at night when we don't.
As the Earth turns, sometimes we face the Sun. That's when we get day. When the Earth's spin(自转) turns us away from the Sun and we are in the Earth's shadow, we get night. When people on the opposite side of the Earth face the Sun, those people have day while we have night.
The Moon is a different story. Unlike the Sun, it doesn't make its own light. Moonlight is actually the Sun's light reflecting(反射)the Moon back to us.
The Sun lights up only the side of the Moon that faces the Sun.At Full Moon, the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun.Then the side of the Moon facing the Earth is all lit up. During Full Moon, the Moon rises around sunset, shines all night, and sets around sun-rise. Since the moonlight is so bright, you can sometimes see it during the day, too. A few days before Full Moon, if you look east in the after- noon, you may see the Moon in the sky. After Full Moon, you may find it if you look west in the morning.
The Moon is most difficult to see at New Moon, when its orbit(轨道)puts it between the Earth and the Sun. Then, the side of the Moon facing the Earth is dark and we can't see the Moon at all.
( ) 1.What can we know about the Sun?
A. The Sun rules the Moon.
B. The Sun shines during both day and night.C. The Sun lights up all the sides of the Moon.
