The Decreasing Number of Insects in Summer

Nowadays, many scientific studies show that the number of insects in summer is becoming smaller year by year. This worrying situation has brought a big problem to the ecological balance.

如今，许多科学研究表明，夏季昆虫的数量正逐年减少。这一令人担忧的状况给生态平衡带来了严重问题。

Many years ago, summer was full of lively insects. We could see beautiful butterflies flying among flowers, fireflies shining at night and hear crickets singing everywhere. But now, we can hardly see these lovely scenes. There are three main reasons for this problem. First, global warming makes the weather hotter and hotter, which breaks the life rules of insects. Second, more cities and roads are built, so insects lose their living places such as grasslands and wetlands. Third, farmers use too many pesticides, which kill not only bad insects but also helpful ones.

许多年前，夏天到处都是生机勃勃的昆虫。我们能看到美丽的蝴蝶在花丛中飞舞，萤火虫在夜晚闪烁，还能听到蟋蟀到处鸣叫。但现在，我们几乎看不到这些美好的景象了。造成这个问题主要有三个原因。首先，全球变暖使天气越来越热，打破了昆虫的生存规律。其次，越来越多的城市和道路被修建，导致昆虫失去了草原、湿地等栖息地。第三，农民使用过多农药，不仅杀死害虫，也杀死了益虫。

In fact, insects play an important role in nature. They help plants grow by spreading pollen. They are also important food for birds and small animals. If insects disappear, the whole food chain will be broken, and the environment will get worse and worse.

事实上，昆虫在自然界中扮演着重要角色。它们通过传播花粉帮助植物生长，也是鸟类和小型动物重要的食物来源。如果昆虫消失，整个食物链将会断裂，环境也会变得越来越糟糕。

It’s time for us to take action to protect insects. We should use fewer pesticides, protect natural environments and reduce light pollution. Only in this way can we keep the beauty of summer and protect our planet well.

我们是时候采取行动保护昆虫了。我们应该减少农药使用，保护自然环境，降低光污染。只有这样，我们才能留住夏日的美好，好好保护我们的地球。
