Dear Jim,

I hope you are doing great.

I am writing to inform you that I cannot make it to our mountain-climbing this weekend. I apologize for this last-minute notification. I ran a fever last night and stayed up all night because of a severe headache. I don’t think I would be fit for mountain climbing.

Would it be fine with you if we postpone this outing to next weekend? By then, I am sure I would be well enough to enjoy myself. Besides, it will be warmer and flowers will start blooming.
