传统文化之传统节日
01
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China, which comes in January or February.
Before the Spring Festival, people buy new clothes and clean their houses. People who live or work away from their hometowns will go back.
On New Year’s Eve, all the family members get together to enjoy a big dinner and watch Spring Festival Gala. People also let off fireworks. The elderly give red packets to children. During the Spring Festival, people visit their relatives and friends, and have meals with them.

My favorite Chinese festival is the Dragon Boat Festival.
It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. It’s a day to remember Qu Yuan, a great poet. On this day, people usually eat zongzi and hold dragon boat races. They also drink realgar wine, hang Chinese mugwort around the doors and carry a spice bag around with them.
What makes the festival special for me is the dragon boat race. The members of the dragon boat team have such great team spirit that everybody tries their best to win the race.
So I like Dragon Boat Festival very much.

How are you these days? I’m glad you are interested in the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. People celebrate it in memory of Qu Yuan—a Chinese poet. Then people in China will hold a variety of activities, such as holding dragon boat racing, eating tasty zongzi and so on. My family will watch dragon boat races, which takes place every year. Of course, we will also make zongzi.
If there is a chance, welcome to China to experience it personally.
Hope you can come to China and enjoy this festival with me one day.

How are you? I’m really glad that you are interested in Chinese traditional festivals.
There are many traditional festivals in China. The most important one is the Spring Festival. It is between January and February. Before the festival, we clean our houses and sweep away bad luck. Then we decorate the doors and windows with paper cutting. We also put fireworks. When the day comes, all the family members get together and we put on new clothes and shoes. Children usually get lucky money. We visit our relatives and friends. We eat dumplings and have a big dinner together.
We usually have a good time and rest during that time.

I’d like to tell you something about Mid-Autumn Festival. It is one of the most famous traditional festivals in China. It falls on August 15th of the lunar calendar. People believe that the moon is a symbol of reunion, luck and fortune, so they express best wishes to each other on that day. Mooncakes are the traditional food of this festival. People often get together to have dinner, admire the moon and share mooncakes.
Last year, my parents and I spent the Mid-Autumn Festival at my grandparents’ house. My grandparents told me the story of Chang’e, and we enjoyed the moon together. It was really a wonderful experience.

How is everything going? I hope you can come to China to spend Mid-Autumn Festival together.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It usually falls in September or October every year. People believe that the full moon is a symbol of reunion. They often give best wishes to each other at this special time. On this day people usually go back home to get together, enjoying a large meal with their family. At night, they admire the full moon, share delicious mooncakes with their family and tell stories about Chang’e. Spending traditional Chinese festivals with their families can make students feel the love and warmth of their families.
Best wishes for you!

Welcome to the Chinese culture tour. Now please allow me to introduce one of the Chinese traditional festivals — the Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival falls in January or February. It is Chinese New Year and also the biggest day of the year. So people come back home from different places and get together for a big dinner. Many people stay up late to welcome the new year, hoping they will have a bright new start.
During the festival, people visit their relatives and friends and wish each other good luck for the new year. Children can often get hongbao from their elders. Do you think it interesting?
That’s all. Thanks for listening.
