The SAT(学术能力评估测试) is the college entrance exam in the US.It has been long connected with paper and pencil. But it will soon go all-digital(全数字化的),which means it will be held online.
Starting in 2024 in America. the new online SAT will change the testing time from three hours to two. It will include shorter reading passages and allow students to use a calculator(计算器) in the math test. The new SAT will still take place at a test center or at a school.but students will be able to choose between using their own computers or the schools'.
“The new SAT will be easier to take,easier to give, and more closely connected with the subjects at school." said Priscilla Rodriguez of the College Board, the organization behind the test.“We are changing to meet the developing needs of teachers and students."
The College Board once gave up plans to offer an at- home online test. Because they were worried that some students couldn't afford to use three hours of non-stop Internet and electricity, especially in poor areas. The online SAT will be made to autosave(自动保存），so students won't lose work or time while they connect again.
A high school student named Amematsro first started thinking about taking the SAT in sixth grade.In the fall of2022，Amematsro took a pilot(试点的) exam of the online SAT.
“It's just not as easy for me, honestly,to fix my attention on the paper as it was the computer,"she says. She used her own computer to take it,which made her feel comfortable and familiar.“I just feel like it's easier for me because I'm so used to using technology,"Amematsro says.
