Some people think that the use of mobiles (cell) phones should be banned in public places such as in libraries, shops and on public transport.
To what extent do you agree and disagree?
Many people argue that mobile phones should be banned in public places, and their main concern is noise. While I accept that careless use of these devices can disturb others, I disagree with a total ban, because they have become necessary for everyday public life.
Intro:
The main reason people want a ban is noise. Ringtones, loud conversations, and videos played without earphones can interrupt the people nearby. In a library, for example, a person talking loudly on the phone can stop everyone around from concentrating on their reading. Yet this disturbance comes from careless and impolite behaviour rather than the device itself, and a total ban would unfairly punish people who use their phones properly.
Body 1:
Even putting fairness aside, a complete ban is simply impractical. Many everyday activities in public now depend on phones. People pay with them in shops, and on buses and trains they buy tickets and check routes on their screens. If these devices were removed from public places, none of those activities could continue, and thus normal daily life would be disrupted. A more sensible approach is therefore to control how people use phones in public, rather than removing the phones themselves.
Body 2:
In conclusion, while it is reasonable to worry about the disturbance from phones, banning them everywhere is neither fair nor possible. A better approach is to introduce clear rules that control the behaviours which disturb others, and to punish those who break them.
Con:
