第一部分连动｜三个动词成一串
动词直接并置，中间不加 and，动作就有了速度。
He stepped back, raised both hands, and said nothing.
他退后一步，举起双手，什么也没说。
She pulled the drawer open, took out the box, and shut it again.
她拉开抽屉，取出盒子，又关上。
I climbed the fence, dropped into the grass, and lay still.
我翻过篱笆，落进草里，躺着不动。
He uncapped the pen, wrote three words, and handed the page over.
他拔开笔帽，写了三个字，把纸递了过来。
The dog circled twice, pawed the blanket, and settled down.
狗转了两圈，扒了扒毯子，趴下了。
I bent down, picked the coin up, and put it in her palm.
我弯下腰，把硬币捡起来，放进她手心。
He shook the bottle, checked the label, and put it back on the shelf.
他摇了摇瓶子，看了看标签，放回架上。
She pushed the hair off her face, tied it back, and got to work.
她把头发拨开，扎起来，开始干活。
I switched the light on, looked at the empty room, and switched it off.
我开了灯，看了看空屋子，又关了。
He turned the key, heard the lock give, and pushed the door inwards.
他转动钥匙，听见锁开了，把门推了进去。
第二部分独立主格｜一条句子里两个动作同时走
“名词 + 分词/介词短语”，用来给主动作加环境。
He walked to the gate, his hands deep in his pockets.
他往门口走去，两手深深插在口袋里。
She stood at the window, her back to the whole room.
她站在窗前，背对着整间屋子。
I sat on the step, my chin on my knees.
我坐在台阶上，下巴搁在膝盖上。
He read the letter twice, his face giving nothing away.
他把信读了两遍，脸上什么也没露。
We waited by the road, the engine still running behind us.
我们在路边等着，身后的发动机还响着。
She answered the question slowly, her eyes on the table.
她慢慢回答问题，眼睛盯着桌子。
He put the cup down, his hand not quite steady.
他把杯子放下，手不太稳。
I looked up, my heart still going too fast.
我抬起头，心跳还是太快。
She took the plate from me, her fingers cold against mine.
她把盘子接过去，手指碰到我的时候是凉的。
He stayed where he was, one foot on the step, one hand on the rail.
他留在原地，一只脚在台阶上，一只手搭着栏杆。
第三部分现在分词｜一句话连出两个动作
分词开头，主动作在后，句子立刻有了先后与因果。
Grabbing the rail, he pulled himself up in one movement.
他抓住栏杆，一个动作就把自己拉了上去。
Not knowing what to say, I nodded instead.
不知道该说什么，我就点了点头。
Hearing the noise, she turned round at once.
听见那声响，她立刻转过身来。
Smiling at nobody in particular, he walked on.
他笑着，也不是冲着谁，继续往前走。
Having checked the door twice, she finally left it.
门检查了两遍，她才离开。
Leaning against the wall, I watched the street empty out.
我靠着墙，看着街上一点点空下来。
Trying not to look pleased, he put the paper away.
他忍着不露出高兴的样子，把纸收了起来。
Still holding the torch, she opened the door with her shoulder.
她还拿着手电，用肩膀把门推开。
Having said all that, he seemed to have nothing left to add.
那些话说完了，他好像再没什么可补的了。
Without waiting for an answer, she turned and went in.
没等回答，她就转身进去了。
第四部分被动手｜让东西替人做主语
动作没做完、人不是主角时，把物提到主语位置。
The door was pushed open, and then nothing happened for a while.
门被推开了，然后好一会儿什么也没发生。
The letters were tied up with string and left on the chair.
那些信被绳子捆着，放在椅子上。
My name was called twice before I heard it.
我的名字被叫了两遍，我才听见。
The gate had been left open all night.
大门整夜都开着。
The window was wiped clean, though nobody had been asked to do it.
窗户被擦得干干净净，虽然没人被要求去擦。
The note was folded small enough to fit in a palm.
字条折得很小，正好放得进一只手心。
Everything was put back exactly where it had been.
所有东西都被原样放了回去。
The seat beside me was taken before I could save it.
我旁边那个位子，我还没来得及占就被人坐了。
The lock was turned from the inside, quietly.
锁从里面轻轻转上了。
The light in the hall was switched off, and the stairs went dark.

第五部分隐喻动词｜不用副词，用动词本身
一个准动词顶三个“形容词 + -ly”。
He eased the door shut behind him.
他把门在身后轻轻带上。
She threaded her way between the tables.
她在桌子之间穿行过去。
I edged along the wall to the far door.
我贴着墙一点一点挪到最里面那扇门。
He gulped the water down and set the glass on the sill.
他把水灌下去，杯子搁在窗台上。
She tucked the photo into the back of the book.
她把照片掖进书的最后面。
I fumbled for the switch in the dark.
我在黑里摸索着找开关。
He shouldered his way through the crowd.
他用肩膀挤过人群。
She scooped the coins up and dropped them in her pocket.
她把硬币一把抄起来，塞进口袋。
I wedged my bag under the leg of the table.
我把包塞在桌腿底下垫着。
He swept the whole pile into his arms and carried it out.
他把整堆东西一抱，抱了出去。
第六部分副词删改｜把 -ly 换成动作证据
凡是能演出来的，就不要说出来。
He walked slowly, stopping to look back every few steps.
他慢慢走，每走几步就停下来回头看看。（替代 walked slowly）
She spoke quietly, so quietly that I leaned in to hear.
她说话很轻，轻得我得凑过去听。（替代 spoke quietly）
I opened it carefully, holding my breath.
我小心地拆开，屏着呼吸。（替代 carefully）
He ate hungrily, and had finished before I sat down.
他吃得急，我还没坐下他就吃完了。（替代 hungrily）
She answered angrily, and would not look at me afterwards.
她气冲冲地回答，之后再也不肯看我。（替代 angrily）
He searched the whole drawer twice, emptying it onto the desk.
他把抽屉翻了两遍，东西全倒在桌上。（替代 searched carefully）
I told him everything, and my voice did not shake.
我把一切都告诉了他，声音没有抖。（替代 calmly）
She pushed the chair back hard enough to scrape the floor.
她把椅子往后一推，地板都刮响了。（替代 pushed back suddenly）
He waited, checking the time every minute or so.
他等着，差不多每分钟就看一次表。（替代 waited impatiently）
I said goodbye, and I said it first.
我说了再见，而且是我先说的。（替代 sadly）
第七部分力度节奏｜长句铺开，短句切断
动作链的节奏感来自句长对比，不是形容词。
He crossed the yard, went up the steps, tried the handle, and found it locked.
他穿过院子，上了台阶，试了试门把，发现锁着。（长句铺）
Then he stopped.
然后他停住了。（短句切）
I ran down the corridor, past the notice board, past the open door, and out into the rain.
我跑过走廊，经过公告栏，经过那扇开着的门，冲进雨里。
Nobody followed.
没人跟出来。
The plan was simple: get in, take the box, get out before the lights came on.
计划很简单：进去，拿走箱子，在灯亮之前出来。
It did not work.
没成。
We worked all afternoon, measuring, cutting, fitting, and starting over when it did not line up.
我们干了一下午：量、裁、装，对不齐就重来。
At six it was finished.

He took the long way round, checked the window, tried the back door, and came back to where he had started.

第八部分视线绑定｜动谁就跟着谁
动作句里加一条视线，读者才站得进画面。
I watched him cross the road, and he did not once look back at me.
我看着他过马路，他一次都没回头看我。
Her eyes followed the car until the road bent.
她的眼睛一直跟着那辆车，直到路拐了弯。
He kept his eyes on my hands the whole time he spoke.
他说话的时候一直盯着我的手。
I saw her take the book, hold it, and put it back without opening it.
我看见她拿起书，拿了一会儿，没翻开就放了回去。
Through the window I could see the two of them still standing there.
隔着窗户，我还看得见他们俩站在那儿。
She looked where I was looking, and said nothing.
她顺着我的目光看过去，什么也没说。
I turned to watch him go, but he had already gone.
我转头想看他走，他已经不在了。
He glanced at the door, at the clock, and then at me.
他瞥了一眼门，又看了看钟，然后是看我。
We both saw it at the same moment, and neither of us moved.

第九部分两条独门技法｜未完成动作与反应补拍
这两条最容易拿分，也最容易被忽略。
He reached for the handle and then did not take it.
他伸手去够把手，却没去握。（未完成动作）
She drew a breath to speak, and let it out again unused.
她吸了口气要开口，又原封不动地吐了出来。（未完成动作）
I had my hand up before I knew what I was going to ask.
我手举起来了，还不知道要问什么。（未完成动作）
He took the pen and put it down again in the same movement.
他拿起笔，同一个动作里又放下了。（未完成动作）
Twice she looked at the phone, and twice she left it alone.
她两次看向电话，两次都没碰。（未完成动作）
He put his hand out for the key, and I did not give it to him.
他伸手来要钥匙，我没给他。（反应补拍）
She said my name, and the whole room turned to look.
她叫了我的名字，满屋子的人都转头看。（反应补拍）
The door opened, and every head in the room came up.
门一开，屋里所有头都抬了起来。（反应补拍）
I put the box on the table, and nobody said anything.
我把盒子放在桌上，谁也没说话。（反应补拍）
He held the door for me, and I walked through it without a word.
他替我扶着门，我一句话没说就走了过去。（反应补拍）
第十部分技法示范｜同一场景的四种写法
同一件事，用四种句法各写一遍。
He got out of the car, locked it, and walked towards the house.
连动：他下车，锁车，朝房子走去。
Getting out of the car, he locked it behind him and started towards the house.
分词：下了车，他在身后把车锁上，朝房子走去。
He walked towards the house, the keys still in his hand, his coat undone.
独立主格：他朝房子走去，钥匙还在手里，外套敞着。
The car was locked, the gate was pushed open, and the path was walked to the end.
被动手：车锁了，大门推开了，那条小路走到了头。
He eased the gate shut and stood in the yard, one hand still on the latch. The light in the kitchen was on, which he had not expected. Twice he lifted his hand to the door and twice he let it fall. Then he straightened his coat, drew a breath, and knocked. Inside, somebody stopped moving.
他把大门轻轻带上，站在院子里，一只手还搭在门闩上。厨房的灯亮着，这他没想到。他两次举手要敲门，两次都放下来了。然后他理了理外套，吸了口气，敲了门。屋里，有什么人停住了动作。
第十一部分句法速查｜一句话认出该用哪条
先看动作有几个，再看主语是谁，最后看想不想让它完成。
两个以上动作、同一个主语、要快：连动。
He stepped back, raised both hands, and said nothing.
主动作要看清、同时加环境或状态：独立主格。
He walked to the gate, his hands deep in his pockets.
两个动作有先后或因果，想省掉一个主语：现在分词。
Grabbing the rail, he pulled himself up in one movement.
不想让人当主语、想让物说话：被动手。
The letters were tied up with string and left on the chair.
想删掉一个 -ly 副词：隐喻动词。
He eased the door shut behind him.
想让节奏变紧：长句之后接一个四词短句。
Then he stopped.
想让读者站进画面：加一条视线。
I watched him cross the road, and he did not once look back at me.
想让情绪最重：让动作停在半路。
He reached for the handle and then did not take it.
想让一句话有分量：动作之后补别人的反应。
She said my name, and the whole room turned to look.
三条以上同时出现，这一段基本就是高分段落。
Easing the gate shut, he crossed the yard, his keys still in his hand, and twice lifted a hand to the door.
