这里是说，他的这篇文章只是很多篇这样的文章中的一篇，就是讨论这个问题的文章很多，他的只是其中之一而已。
that部分是定语从句，修饰pieces，即：这些文章是最近出现的。
appear vi. 出现
making部分是分词后置定语，修饰pieces，也可以写成定语从句：
making the point that the reasonwe have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes todayis largely because of the big drop in demandbecause of the Great Recession,butit is also because of the advances in both globalization and the information technologyrevolution, which are more rapidly than ever replacing labor with machines or foreign workers.（这个句子就体现了英文，主干少，枝干发达的特点，这里全是修饰的部分）
make the point：证明一个观点
that部分是同位语从句，具体说这个观点是什么，是用but来连接的两个句子
①the reasonwe have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes todayis largely because of the big drop in demandbecause of the Great Recession,
句子主干：the reason is①largely because of the big drop in demand②because of the Great Recession
②部分的because of部分是，导致需求下降的原因。①部分的because of部分是，需求的下降，从而导致失业和收入减少的原因。
demand n. 需求
we部分是省略why的定语从句，修饰the reason，当先行词为the reason的时候，关系词可以用“that、for which、why”，无论用哪个，都可以省略：
we have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes today
stubborn adj. ①固执的；顽固的；②难以去除的；难以处理的。—— stubbornly adv.固执地（这里是说，这个失业问题很顽固）
middle-class n. 中产阶级
income n. 收入
②but it is also because ofthe advances in both globalization and the information technology revolution, which are more rapidly than ever replacing labor with machines or foreign workers.
it指the reason，这里是写简单了，应该把it省略，这样，更爽。
advance n. 进步；发展
globalization n. 全球化
revolution n. 革命
which部分是非限定性定语从句，修饰“globalization and the information technologyrevolution”
more than ever：比以往任何时候更
