一、can / could 的基本含义

can 和 could 都是情态动词，后面必须接动词原形。

基本结构：

·肯定句：主语 + can/could + 动词原形

·否定句：主语 + can’t/couldn’t + 动词原形

·一般疑问句：Can/Could + 主语 + 动词原形 …?

·简略回答：Yes, 主语 + can/could. / No, 主语 + can’t/couldn’t.

例如：

·She can dance.

·She can’t dance.

·Can she dance?

·Yes, she can. / No, she can’t.

二、can 的主要用法

1. 表示“能力”，意为“能；会”

用来表达某人具备做某事的能力。

·I can speak English.

·He can play basketball very well.

·They can’t ride a bike.

常见搭配：

·can swim 会游泳

·can play the piano 会弹钢琴

·can speak Chinese 会说中文

·can run fast 跑得快

2. 表示“许可”，意为“可以”

用来表示允许别人做某事。

·You can go home now.

·Can I use your pen?

·We can watch TV on weekends.

注意：              Can I …? 表示“我可以……吗？”语气比较直接、口语化。

3. 表示“可能性”，意为“可能”

多用于否定句或疑问句中。

·It can’t be true.              这不可能是真的。

·Can it be him?              会是他吗？

三、could 的主要用法

1. 表示“过去的能力”，意为“过去能；过去会”

could 是 can 的过去式，常和表示过去的时间状语连用。

·She could read when she was four.

·He couldn’t swim last year.

·My grandfather could run fast when he was young.

注意：              如果强调“某一次具体成功做到”，一般不用 could，而用 was/were able to。              但八上阶段通常先掌握 could 表示过去能力 即可。

2. 表示“委婉请求或许可”，语气比 can 更礼貌

·Could you help me?

·Could I borrow your book?

·Could you please open the window?

注意：              Could you …? 虽然形式上是过去式，但在这里并不表示过去，而是表示更客气、更委婉。

回答时通常用 can，不用 could：

·Could you help me?

·Yes, I can. / Sure. / Of course.

四、can 和 could 的区别

例如：

·Can you come to my party?

·Could you please come to my party?

第二句更礼貌。
