current adj. 当前的；现在的
downturn n. 衰退；下降。（这里指的就是2007年以来，艺术市场的衰退）
since引导的是时间状语从句：since the Japanese stopped buying Impressionists at the end of 1989.
impression n. 印象。—— impressionist n. 印象派画家。—— impressionistic adj. 印象派的。—— impressionism n. 印象派；印象主义。
②This time experts reckon that prices are about 40% down on their peak on average, though some have been far more fluctuant.针对这次衰退，专家估计平均价位相对峰值下降了40%，尽管有些价格波动的幅度更大。
reckon vt. ①想；认为；②估计；估算。
that部分是宾语从句：that prices are about 40% down on their peak on average
their指代的是prices，这里略抽象，这是说艺术品的价格，但是文章直接说成价格了，英文可以这么表达。
peak adj. 顶峰的；n. 山峰；山顶。
though部分是让步状语从句：though some have been far more fluctuant.
some指代prices，即：有些艺术品的价格，波动可能更大。
fluctuate vi. 波动；涨落；变化。—— fluctuant adj. 波动的；起伏的。（这里的本质是说，有些作品的价格可能下降幅度更大）
③But Edward Dolman, Christie’s chief executive, says: “I’m pretty confident we’re at the bottom.”但是，佳士得的首席执行官 Edward Dolman（爱德华·多尔曼）说：“我们现在已经处于低谷，对此我十分确信”。
Christie’s chief executive部分是同位语，也可以叫做插入语，有人就说了，那到底是啥，在句子结构，形式上，它是插入语，在本质是，它扮演的是同位语的角色，是对ED做进一步说明。
say后面是直接引语：I’m pretty confidentwe’re at the bottom.
confident后面是省略that的宾语从句，形容词也可以接宾语从句的，比如：I am sure that...。
pretty adv. 相当；非常；adj. 漂亮的；动人的；美观的。
confident adj. 自信的。 —— confidence n. 自信
at the bottom：处于底部。
总结：第四段继续说艺术品市场的衰落，表现为艺术品价格的暴跌。
