上周末,艾原学校初中部家长说明会上,一个小互动让很多家长打开了话匣子。大家在“成长之树”上,分享自己陪伴孩子的真实状态。有家长说:“每天盯着、逼着孩子学。”也有家长苦恼:“青春期撞上更年期,天天都在'相爱相杀'。”

初中阶段,好像是很多家庭共同的一道坎。根据中国科学院心理研究所发布的《2024年青少年心理健康与学业状况调查报告》,当亲子沟通不足、长期以高压方式管束时,青少年心理风险明显升高,而学业韧性也会随之下降。

很多家长把“厌学”简单理解成懒,但忽略了,孩子真正失去的,是掌控感。

学生每天早起、上课、刷题、补课、写作业,时间被填得密不透风。更现实的问题是:AI时代正在快速改变“好学生”的定义。会考试,当然还重要。但如果这是孩子身上唯一被培养的能力,未来能走的路,只会越来越窄。

比起一味“逼着学”,初中阶段更重要的一件事:帮孩子找到属于自己的成长方向。

Last weekend, during the parent information session at East Shore IVY School, a small activity got many parents engaged. On a “Growth Tree,” they shared their real experiences of parenting. One parent said, “I watch over my child every day and push him to study.” Another struggled, “Every day feels like a battle.”

Middle school years are a tough hurdle for many families. According to the 2024 Report on Adolescent Mental Health and Academic Performance, when parent-child communication is poor and discipline is chronically high-pressure, the risk of mental health issues rises significantly, while academic resilience declines.Many parents mistake a lack of motivation for laziness. What children have truly lost is a sense of control.Students’ days are packed tight. An even more realistic issue: the AI era is rapidly changing the definition of a “good student.” Doing well on exams is still important. But if that is the only ability a child develops, their future path will only grow narrower.Rather than simply “forcing them to study,” the most important thing in middle school is to help each child find their own direction for growth.

有人数理思维突出,适合强基、竞赛路径;

有人语言、探究精神强,更适合国际课程方向;也有孩子在体育、艺术或实践项目中,拥有远超同龄人的潜能。

很多家长说孩子没有学习积极性,或者觉得小时候挺有好奇心的孩子,为什么上了初中,反而越来越“没劲”了?做什么都提不起兴趣。不少人把它归结为“青春期叛逆”“手机影响”“不自律”。但还有一种容易被忽略的原因:孩子太久没有真正做过决定了。

如果一个孩子从早晨到深夜:几点起床、什么时候学习、上什么课外班都被别人安排得满满当当。哪里留有空间让孩子自己“想”,自己做决定呢?

自主性不是天生的,学生需要真实的机会,感受“这件事是我做成的”。

在艾原,我们一直在尝试创造这样的真实场景。学校大厅的咖啡角,就将由初中学生以PBL(项目式学习)的方式全程参与运营。从区域规划、资金募集、成本核算,到产品设计、日常运营等,初中生将根据自己的想法参与。让学生找回““这是我自己想做的事。”

当然,成长不只是项目和活动。青春期的孩子,情绪本身就一直绷着。如果每天待的环境也充满压迫感,很多孩子只会越来越想逃离。所以,我们也格外重视“空间对情绪的影响”。如用低饱和度的绿、蓝、白和木纹色做基调,把自然的感觉引进来。让学校先成为一个让人放松、愿意停留、愿意表达的地方。

People often blame the lack of motivation on "teenage rebellion," "too much screen time," or "lack of self-discipline." But there is another easily overlooked reason:The child has not truly made a decision for a very long time.From morning to late at night—when to get up, what to study – everything is arranged. Where is the space for a child to think for themselves and make their own choices? Autonomy is not innate. Students need real opportunities to feel, "I made this happen."

We keep creating such real-world scenarios. For example, the coffee corner in our school lobby will be fully run by middle school students through

project-based learning. From space planning, fundraising, and cost accounting, to product design, daily operations, middle schoolers will participate according to their own ideas, regaining the sense that “this is something I wanted to do.

Of course, growth is not only about projects and activities. Adolescents are already emotionally stretched. If their daily environment is also stressful, many might want to escape. That is why we also place great emphasis on how space affects emotions. Using low-saturation greens, blues, whites, and wood tones, we bring a sense of nature into the school. We want the school to be a place where students feel relaxed, willing to stay, and ready to express themselves.

很多家长容易陷入一个误区:把初中当成一场三年短跑,只盯着眼前成绩。但实际上,学生的学习习惯、自我认知、兴趣方向、学术能力,往往都是层层递进的。

成长不能靠“碰运气”。我们给学生一份更清晰的成长路线图——每个年级重点不同,每一步都有目标,也有节奏。

六年级(启蒙期)

Grade 6 (Foundation Stage)

习惯与兴趣打底。开设青少年领袖岗位和生涯职业规划课程,同步启动数理化生的课程体系启蒙。

七年级(夯实期)

Grade 7 (Deepening Stage)

跨学科项目实践。学生每个学期将持续深度参与至少一个IDU跨学科项目(例如将“呼市博物馆”与历史、草原文化进行深度跨学科融合)。

八年级(分流期)

Grade 8 (Pathway Stage)

双轨定向与特长凸显。明确国内或国际升学方向;校园社团活动全面转为由学生自主运营主导。

九年级(冲刺期)

Grade 9 (Final Sprint Stage)

高考有优势,出国有保障。在双导师与专业升学团队的陪伴下,进入国内中考或国际升学的精准冲刺阶段。

中考很重要,但它从来不该成为定义孩子的唯一标准。期待更多家庭,与我们一起,看见中考之外,孩子更广阔的成长可能。
