20250412 High-level computer skills are a necessary and important factor leading to a successful career. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In modern society, digital technology is playing an important role in our daily life. The issue of whether high-level computer capabilities are a vital factor contributing to a successful career has aroused much public discussion. In my judgement, although these skills bring advantages, they are not necessary.
One main reason for my stance is that most occupations do not require advanced computer abilities. This is because core professional competence in most positions, such as lawyers or salespersons, depends on specialized knowledge or interpersonal skills. More specifically, doctors build their reputation and career success on solid medical knowledge and years of clinical experience, which enable them to make accurate diagnosis. It is unnecessary for them to master coding or data analysis, since only basic operations are needed.
Secondly, tasks related with computers are better handled by professionals due to modern division of labor. Programmers and IT engineers are responsible for technical issues in the workplace, so there’s no need for most professionals to have high-level computer knowledge and solve technical problems by themselves. Besides, modern digital tools are getting simpler and easier to use. This means today's technological tools do not require complex operations, making the role of high-level computer skills more limited.
Admittedly, people working in fields highly related to programming or computers benefit greatly from high-level computer skills. These few areas include software engineering, AI development, and professional video production, where advanced computer skills directly support daily tasks and project success. Proficient use of such skills enables workers to create innovative digital products and adapt quickly to rapid technological updates, which are key to career growth and professional recognition in these industries.
In conclusion, for most people it is unnecessary to regard high-level computer skills as a must for career success. We should focus more on developing professional knowledge and practical skills that match our chosen occupations.
