The island of Bella is a special place in Italy. It is not very large, but its history and culture are important to the people living there. The main industry there is tourism. Every January, the island hosts an international music festival. Musicians from many countries, like Japan, India, and the United States, join this event. They play different instruments and introduce their own music styles.
Last year, the festival organizers wanted to improve the event. They decided to include more activities for teenagers. They invited a famous Japanese DJ and set up an Internet radio station for the festival. The information about the festival was shared online, and this greatly increased its influence. Many young people became interested and came to the island.
Inside the old town, there are many interesting jobs during the festival. Marco, a local teenager, got a job as a helper. His job was to give instructions to visitors and help with interviews for the radio station. “It is an interesting job,” Marco said. “I meet people from all over the world. I hope I can improve my English.”
On the first day, Marco saw a huge crowd waiting for a concert. He was hurrying to his next job when he hurt his leg a little on a small hole in the street. Instead of going to the hospital, he sat down for a short rest. A kind woman from India gave him some honey water. Soon, he felt better and went back to work. He thought it was impossible to leave his job at such a busy time.
The festival is a big success now. It brings hope and joy to the small island. People imagine that in the future, even more visitors will come to enjoy the music and the beautiful views of Bella.
