Q1. Did your parents teach you to share when you were a child?
Yes, definitely. I think it was one of those things my parents were quite deliberate about. I remember being told to share snacks with my cousins or let other kids have a go on my toys. It wasn't always easy — I had a favourite set of coloured pencils I was very protective of — but looking back, I think those small lessons stuck with me more than I realised at the time.
Q2. What kind of things do you like to share with others?
Food, mostly. There's something really nice about ordering lots of dishes and eating together — I think that's quite a big part of the culture I grew up in. I also genuinely enjoy sharing recommendations — books, podcasts, study resources. When I find something useful or interesting, my instinct is to pass it on. And with close friends, I share a lot in terms of thoughts and feelings too, which I think is just as important.
Q3. What kinds of things are not suitable for sharing?
Personal belongings like toothbrushes or earphones — obvious ones. But beyond hygiene, I think some things are just too private to share, like passwords or personal diaries. And I'd say certain feelings or struggles shouldn't be shared indiscriminately either — not everything needs to be posted online or told to everyone. There's value in being selective about who you open up to.
Q4. Have you shared anything with others recently?
Actually, yes — just this week I shared some revision notes with a classmate who missed a few lectures. She was really grateful, and honestly, explaining things to someone else helped me remember the material better too. I've also been sharing study playlists in our group chat, which sounds small but it's become a bit of a thing in our class — everyone chips in with songs now.
