Historical landmarks carry precious cultural heritage and witness the development of human civilisation. People hold conflicting views on whether these sites should be fully closed to visitors or kept open for public access. This essay will discuss both perspectives and elaborate on my own opinion.
历史遗迹承载着珍贵的文化遗产，见证着人类文明的发展。关于这些遗迹是否应该完全不对游客开放，还是向公众开放参观，人们持有截然不同的观点。本文将探讨双方观点，并阐明个人看法。
On the one hand, there are convincing reasons why some people advocate the complete closure of historical attractions. Firstly, mass tourism inevitably causes irreversible damage to ancient buildings and relics. Large numbers of tourists may touch cultural artefacts casually, leave rubbish everywhere or produce excessive carbon dioxide, which accelerates the ageing and erosion of historic sites. Secondly, closing these places can effectively avoid human-made destruction such as vandalism and illegal theft of cultural treasures. Moreover, it provides a quiet environment for professional archaeologists and researchers to conduct scientific excavation and protection work without disturbance.
一方面，部分人主张完全封闭历史景点，存在合理的依据。首先，大规模旅游势必会对古建筑和文物造成不可逆的破坏。大量游客可能随意触碰文物、随处丢弃垃圾，或是产生过量二氧化碳，这些都会加速历史遗迹的老化与侵蚀。其次，封闭遗址能够有效杜绝蓄意破坏、非法偷盗文物等人为损毁行为。此外，封闭环境也能为专业考古人员和研究学者提供安静的条件，让他们不受干扰地开展科学发掘与保护工作。
On the other hand, opening historical sites to the public also brings numerous benefits to society. To begin with, historic sites are shared wealth of all mankind, and every citizen has the right to appreciate and learn from traditional culture. Visiting these spots enables people, especially teenagers, to deepen their understanding of history, inherit cultural traditions and enhance national cultural identity. In addition, well-managed tourism related to historical sites can boost local economic development. It creates job opportunities for residents, promotes catering, transportation and souvenir industries, and generates funds for the long-term maintenance and protection of these historic places.
另一方面，向公众开放历史遗迹也能为社会带来诸多益处。首先，历史遗迹是全人类的共同财富，每位公民都有权欣赏传统文化、从中汲取知识。参观这些场所能够让人们，尤其是青少年，加深对历史的认知、传承文化传统、增强民族文化认同感。其次，管理完善的遗迹文旅产业可以带动地方经济发展，为当地居民创造就业岗位，推动餐饮、交通、纪念品等相关行业发展，同时也能为历史遗迹的长期维护和保护筹集资金。
In my opinion, completely shutting down historical sites is an extreme measure that is unnecessary. Instead, historical landmarks should be open to the public under strict protection and scientific management. Authorities can limit the daily number of visitors, set up protective fences, add professional guides and carry out regular maintenance. In this way, we can strike a balance between cultural heritage protection and public education and economic development, allowing historic sites to be passed down to future generations while bringing benefits to society.
在我看来，完全关停历史遗迹是一种极端且不必要的做法。相反，历史地标应当在严格保护和科学管理的前提下对公众开放。相关部门可以限制每日游客数量、设立防护围栏、配备专业讲解员，并开展定期修缮维护。如此一来，我们既能兼顾文物保护、公众科普与经济发展三者的平衡，又能让历史遗迹造福社会、代代传承。
