9、A DIY story
例一：
Mum's birthday is coming, so I decided to make a birthday card. First, I started to paint some roses on it. It took me two hours to finish. Lots of things went wrong during that time. When I wrote the sentence “happy birthday”, I kept spelling the words wrong. Finally, I colored the roses red and stuck a picture of balloons on the cover. When I completed the card, there was paint everywhere. This is the first card I made for Mum. I hope she will like it.
例二：
One Saturday, my mom and I decided to make a birdhouse. First, we found some old wooden boards in the garden. Mom helped me measure and cut the pieces carefully. Then we put them together to make the walls and roof. I painted the birdhouse blue and added the yellow flowers on the sides. After it dried, we hung it on a tree in the backyard. A few days later, a little bird came to check it out. I felt so proud that we made a comfortable home for the birds.
10、My favourite season
例一：
Winter is my favorite season. In my hometown, it is often snowy. Everything is covered in deep white snow, and the lakes and rivers are frozen. During this season, you cannot see beautiful flowers or green trees, but the land is quiet and beautiful. My friends and I love playing outside in winter. It is exciting to have big snowball fights. We throw snowballs at each other, screaming and laughing. We also make snowmen and use carrots for their noses. They look funny.
例二：
My favorite season is summer. I love summer because the weather is warm and sunny. I can play outside with my friends all day long. Summer is also the time for vacations and my family often goes to the beach. I enjoy swimming in the sea and building sandcastles. In summer, I get to eat lots of ice cream and fresh fruits like watermelon. There are no school days, so I have more time to relax and have fun. Summer makes me feel happy and free, which is why it is my favorite season.
11、Great changes in my hometown
例一：
Many changes have taken place in my hometown over the years. In the past, there were only narrow and dirty roads in the small town. But now the streets are wide and clean, with green trees on both sides. Years ago, people lived in small old houses. Now most of them have moved into new flats. They used to listen to the radio or watch TV in their free time, but now almost all the families have computers and the internet. In the past, people travelled around the town on foot or by bicycle. But now many families even have their own cars. We are enjoying a comfortable life.
例二：
My hometown has changed a lot over the years. There are many new buildings, and the streets are wider and cleaner. We have a big park now where families can go for walks and play. There is also a new shopping mall with many stores and a movie theater. In the past, we only had small shops and older houses. More people are moving here because there are better schools and more jobs. The town feels busier and brighter than before. I feel proud to see my hometown growing and becoming a nicer place to live.
12、Teenage problems
例一：
I have some problems as a teenager. First, I have too much homework and it makes me feel tired. I often stay up late and feel sleepy the next day. Another problem I have is that my parents do not support my hobbies. For example, I often play football after school but my parents think it is a waste of time. They don't allow me to play outside after six p.m.. This makes me very unhappy. But I know when I talk to my friends or family, I will feel better. Will these problems get better as I grow up?
例二：
Teenagers face many problems as we grow up. Many of us feel stressed about school and homework. Making friends can sometimes be hard, and we may feel lonely. We often worry about how we look and what others think of us. Some of us also fight with our parents about following rules or doing duties at home. Balance fun and studying can be difficult for us too. I think it is important to talk to someone, like family or teachers, when we feel upset. With support, we can overcome our problems and feel much better.
