Are you emotional? Do you often have strong feelings? How do you deal with bad emotions?
We feel angry or unhappy about the things we did or did not achieve about the things we cannot have, and many other things. It seems that everyone carries their own bad moods. But neither unhappiness nor anger can help us. Over time, they can be heavy weights on our shoulders.
These bad moods don’t do anything good for us at all. So you might ask yourself—is it possible to put down this heavy burden and give yourself a break? It is quite possible. Start by actually learning about your feelings. How do they get inside of us? Why do we carry them for so long instead of putting them down? Can we live without them?
By thinking about our bad moods, we can find healthy ways to deal with them. Unhealthy behaviors are not the way to do this. They provide no relaxation. Instead, there are better ways to deal with them. One of the best ways is forgiveness.
Forgiveness is a powerful tool. We should forgive ourselves first. We shouldn’t keep bad moods inside. We must also forgive others who have made us unhappy or angry. This is not always easy. But when we learn to forgive ourselves; it becomes easier to forgive others as well.
There is nothing good about carrying years of emotional burdens. By forgiving ourselves and others, we can abandon our burdens and feel better about ourselves. When you do this, you will start to feel a lot lighter. Years of heaviness will be magically lifted! You’ll start to feel like you have more energy and you’ll be much happier with your life.

There’s nothing to be surprised at that people can enjoy fast and convenient delivery (配送) service in cities and even small towns in China. However, here’s the news that may blow your mind—visitors at the Great Wall are able to receive supplies such as drinking water, food and emergency medicines within minutes.
The Badaling section of the Great Wall was first opened to visitors in 1958, and has since become very popular and received more than 200 million visitors from home and abroad.
At the Badaling section, there’s a place called the South Ninth Tower. It was opened to the public at the end of 2023. It mainlyhosts activities such as outdoor hiking, adventure crossings, Great Wall studies and travel photography. To keep the original looks of the Great Wall, there aren’t any shops, so it is difficult for visitors to get supplies.
To solve this problem, the Badaling Great Wall scenic area worked with a delivery platform to start the service. At the South Ninth Tower, the drone delivery service runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this period, visitors can scan a QR code (二维码) with their mobile phones to place orders, then the drones (无人机) get supplies that visitors order, and the supplies will be delivered within five minutes. After the delivery hours, these drones help carry waste.
In addition to the drone delivery service, visitors can also enjoy the amazing view of the Great Wall from a helicopter or a fixed-wing aircraft. These services will surely draw more visitors to the Badaling Great Wall.

In Brazil and Indonesia, the number of people living in the rainforest (雨林) is rising, so the rainforest itself is becoming smaller.
During the 20th century, people cut down lots of trees in the rainforest. More and more people in Brazil and Indonesia moved into rainforest areas to find land for living. Local farmers cut down trees to grow crops (庄稼). Large companies (公司) also moved into the rainforest to develop their factories.
The problem is that the area of the rainforest is becoming smaller and smaller. Scientists say that destroying (破坏) the rainforest isharming the earth and should be stopped. But why? Rainforest plants help to clean the air. What’s more, different kinds of rainforest plants can be used to produce (生产) useful medicine and may be the key to solving serious problems.
Then how can people in Brazil and Indonesia solve the problem? Governments can make some rules to protect their forests. Companies can provide jobs elsewhere (在别处), so that fewer people have to live and work in the rainforest. Governments should encourage farmers to plant crops in certain areas, and this helps to stop the soil from being washed away and produce better crops.
Many plants and animals that live in the rainforest can’t be found anywhere else in the world. It is important to make sure that these forests are used well and protected by people.
36. Why is the rainforest becoming smaller in Brazil and Indonesia?
A. Because people plant less trees.

【参考范文】
Dear David,
As you know, short videos are very popular with Chinese people. I’m glad to talk about them. As its name suggests, most short videos are less than 5 minutes. Some shorter ones only last for a few seconds. They are fun to watch and easy to make. It’s like a stage where everyone can have his or her own voice.
Every coin has two sides. On the one hand, short videos are a good way to spread news or knowledge. Through short videos, people can share interesting things, gain knowledge and support, or just relax. On the other hand, not all short videos are meaningful and do good to us. Besides, watching short videos too much may be a waste of time and is harmful to our health.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s a good way to relax by watching short videos, but it might be wiser for us to limit the time we spend on it.
Yours,
Li Hua
