Altay（阿勒泰）,located in the north of Xin jiang, is one of the top tourist places in Xinjiang. lt is most known for the "Gold Mountains and Silver Waters" -Altai Mountains and Irtysh River.
There are many visitors there every year. They are interested in its beautiful natural environment, culture and traditional litestyle. They can see natural places like the Yardang landform（雅丹地貌） and snow mountains.The beautiful Kanas Lake is a real dream world. Secondly, more than half of the people there are minorities （少数民族）. So, visitors may enjoy a great chance to know and experience the local culture. What's more, skiing is the symbol of Altay, because Altay is the origin （起源地） of human skiing and a famous Snow Capital in China.
When is the best time to go there? That depends on you. Altay is not very hot in summer. And it has very cold and long winters. lt has a big temperature difference between day and night. lt becomes warm in May and the temperature normally remains comfortable within 30℃ in summer.
The ways of transportation to get there are convenient. It has three airports -Kanas Airport, Altay Airport and Fuyun Airport. Altay Railw ay Station, Fuyun Railway Station and Beitun Station are the major train stations. There are also buses running to Altay City from the city of Urumqi,Fuyun, Shihezi and other cities. However, the bus ride takes lots of time and is less chosen by travelers.
