In 2016, staff at Gatwick Airport began handing out a bright yellow lanyard printed with sunflowers. The idea was born from a simple observation: not every disability can be seen. A traveller who cannot cope with crowds, loud announcements or sudden changes may look perfectly healthy — and therefore be treated with no patience at all. The sunflower lanyard was designed to change that, quietly.
Conditions such as autism, chronic pain and hearing loss affect millions of people, yet they carry no wheelchair and no white cane. For someone with a hidden disability, a busy airport or a crowded supermarket can be exhausting before the day has even begun. Wearing the lanyard does not buy a place at the front of the queue. It simply tells trained staff, "I may need a little more time and a little more calm," so that help can be offered before it is asked for.
The idea spread quickly. Within a few years, the sunflower had appeared in supermarkets, railway stations, banks and leisure centres across Britain, and the scheme has since been adopted by organisations in other countries. Staff learn to approach wearers differently: speaking slowly, allowing extra time at tills, or guiding them to a quieter space. None of this costs much; most of it is only a change of habit.
The scheme is voluntary, and that choice matters. Some people worry that wearing the lanyard means announcing a private condition to strangers, and they prefer to manage without it. Supporters answer that the right to choose is exactly the point: those who want understanding can signal for it, while nobody is forced to explain anything.
A small strip of yellow cloth has done something larger than it looks. It has started conversations about the people our busy world tends to hurry past — and it proves that kindness often begins with noticing.

B. To make passengers with hidden disabilities easier to identify.

3. What concern about the scheme is mentioned in Paragraph 4?

B. Wearing it may force people to reveal private conditions.

The Magic of Starting Small
Big dreams are heavy. 36 We plan to run five kilometres every morning, read fifty books a year, and master a new language before summer — and then, one rainy Tuesday later, the plan is quietly dead.
There is a way out, and it is smaller than you expect. 37 Ten push-ups, one page, five minutes of vocabulary. The goal is not to achieve much; the goal is to make starting so easy that refusing feels silly.
Something interesting happens once you have begun. 38 The ten push-ups turn into fifteen, the one page into three, because starting — not continuing — is the hardest part of any task.
Small steps also protect you from bad days. 39 You may be tired, busy or in a terrible mood, yet you can still manage five minutes. The chain of daily effort stays unbroken, and an unbroken chain is worth more than a few heroic days followed by silence.
Best of all, small wins change how you see yourself. 40 Each tiny success is evidence that you are the kind of person who keeps promises. Collect enough of them, and the big dream stops feeling heavy — it starts feeling inevitable.
选项
A. Write your dream on a large piece of paper.
B. That is exactly why so many plans die in the first week.
C. Shrink it until it is almost too small to fail.
D. Motivation often arrives after the first movement, not before it.
E. Each tiny success is evidence that you are the kind of person who keeps promises.
F. A huge goal breaks easily, but a tiny one survives any difficult day.
G. Choose a goal that takes at least an hour every day.
1. B 第一段:"not every disability can be seen ... may look perfectly healthy — and therefore be treated with no patience at all. The sunflower lanyard was designed to change that" → 隐形障碍"看不出来"才被怠慢,挂绳就是让"隐形的"变得可识别,选 B。A「识别看得见的障碍」与原文"障碍看不出"相反;C「减少旅客数量」无据;D「插队」第二段明确 "does not buy a place at the front of the queue"。
2. A 第二段:"It simply tells trained staff, 'I may need a little more time and a little more calm'" + 第三段 "speaking slowly, allowing extra time at tills, or guiding them to a quieter space" → 给予更多时间与更平静的环境,选 A。
3. B 第四段:"Some people worry that wearing the lanyard means announcing a private condition to strangers" → 担心戴挂绳等于向陌生人公开隐私,选 B。
4. B 末段:"A small strip of yellow cloth has done something larger than it looks ... kindness often begins with noticing." A「机场该发礼物」偏离主旨;C「城市让人疲惫」只是背景细节;D「善良要花钱」与第三段 "None of this costs much" 相反。
七选五
B "That is exactly why so many plans die in the first week."(这正是许多计划在第一周就夭折的原因)中 That 回指"沉重",并总起后文事例,选 B。
C "Shrink it until it is almost too small to fail."(把目标缩小到几乎不可能失败)给出具体做法,与后文"小到不可能失败"的例子严丝合缝,选 C。
D "Motivation often arrives after the first movement, not before it."(动力常在第一步之后才来)解释"为什么开始后会加量",选 D。
F "A huge goal breaks easily, but a tiny one survives any difficult day."(大目标易碎,小目标能熬过任何艰难的一天)正是本段核心,选 F。
E "Each tiny success is evidence that you are the kind of person who keeps promises."(每次小成功都证明你是个守信的人)正是"证据"本体,承接"改变自我认知",选 E。
